SMALL MULTI-AGE CLASSES
Our classes promote children’s autonomy and allow them to help each other while receiving constant attention from their teacher. The younger ones learn from the older ones and the older ones reinforce their knowledge by helping the younger ones. This serene framework reinforces socio-emotional skills, the development of which is key to the success and development of children, including self-confidence, perseverance, emotional expression and control, and empathy.
Each child is unique, with his or her own personality, strengths, and learning rhythm. Our lessons are therefore adapted and personalized.
IN RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FAMILY
La Maternelle takes into account the specificities of each child by setting personal objectives, creating individualized learning paths and closely monitoring each child’s learning.
ACTIVE TEACHING METHODS
Because children learn better when they are motivated by their own curiosity, La Maternelle teachers make their students active in their learning. The methods used are part of the active pedagogy movement, and are based on research on the child’s cognitive, social and emotional development (neuroscience, psychology), as well as on different pedagogical trends such as Montessori and Freinet.
REINFORCEMENT OF FRENCH
In Hong Kong, children are often in a multilingual environment. Also, French language development is at the heart of la Maternelle’s daily activities and its mastery by the children is our fundamental objective.
